Overview

For CoachMate, I worked on bringing their Big Bash League Schools Challenge characters to life. The challenge featured 14 different characters, where the users could get different accessories to their character. The original setup required a separate rig for every single one of them, meaning that each character had it's own rig, with it's own set of accessories.

The Challenge

Maintaining and updating 14 individual rigs can quickly become time-consuming and inefficient. This also resulted in a heavy overall file size, which made the project harder to run smoothly.

My Contribution

I streamlined their entire rigging workflow by consolidating everything into one unified rig that all characters could share. Instead of building and maintaining 14 separate systems, the team now had one clean setup that could drive every character variation.

Impact

  • Faster iteration: Accessories only needed to be added once instead of per character.

  • Easier maintenance: One rig to adjust, fix, and update, not fourteen.

  • Huge performance improvement: The project file size was reduced from ~30 MB down to just 5 MB, making it significantly

more lightweight and easier to run.

Result

CoachMate now has a scalable, more efficient animation system that supports all their characters without the previous overhead, helping them deliver the Schools Challenge experience more smoothly.
