Overview
I had the opportunity to work on a fun and engaging project for Sidekick Health: the Veggie Logger. This Rive-powered feature was designed to help users effortlessly track their daily vegetable intake while maintaining an intuitive and joyful user experience.
Objective
The goal was to build on the success of the previous Water Logger project by creating a similarly gamified experience for vegetable logging. The primary focus was to make tracking healthy habits feel easy, controlled, and enjoyable, without overwhelming the user.
Design
The design approach focused on simplicity, clarity, and brand consistency. We followed a minimalist and approachable visual style, using Sidekick Health’s brand shapes and clean illustrations to represent different vegetables.
Several key challenges guided the design decisions:
Making the logging experience feel simple and approachable
Maintaining consistency with Sidekick Health’s established design language
Helping users clearly visualize progress while avoiding over-logging or under-logging
To address these, I designed a motion flow that provided clear, reassuring feedback throughout the interaction. Users log their vegetable intake by tapping a plus button, which reveals an outlined vegetable. The vegetable only fills in once the user confirms their entry by pressing save, reducing errors and reinforcing a sense of control.
Smooth, satisfying transitions were created between the logging interaction and the success screen, building directly on interaction patterns established in the Water Logger to ensure a cohesive experience across features.
Result
The Veggie Logger delivered a calm, engaging, and intuitive logging experience that empowered users to track their habits accurately. By combining controlled interactions, clear visual feedback, and smooth Rive-powered animations, the feature reinforced Sidekick Health’s playful yet purposeful approach to behavior change, making healthy habit tracking feel rewarding rather than demanding.
